Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (also known as R.C.I.A.) is a process supporting adults on their spiritual journey to belong and participate more deeply in the Catholic faith, to better understand the beliefs and teachings of our Catholic Church and to prepare for reception of the Sacraments  of Initiation — Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.

When Are Sessions at Saint Catherine of Sienna Parish?
Adult Sessions vary according to the needs of the individual.  Currently the majority of our adults meet together on Wednesday evenings at 7:15PM in the Sienna Center.

Who participates in this Rite ?
¨ One who has never been baptized and seeks to join the community of believers.
¨ One who has been baptized in another Christian  faith,  but  seeking to join the Catholic Church.
¨ One who has been baptized in the Catholic faith but who was never fully initiated, through
receiving  the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and/or Confirmation.

How does one start this journey?
It only takes an email or a phone call!
One former participant shared he "felt a void in his life and after discussing with priest knew this was for him."  Although initially a little weary, he shared he was very happy he took the first step and since has received all his Sacraments of Initiation and feels more deeply part of our faith and the parish family.

If you or someone you know may be interested in the process, think this journey might be for you, or just wish to discuss the possibility of your participation -- we encourage you to take a moment to contact our Pastor, Msgr. Rick at 516-35-0146 or email at
