Light Up for Christ

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

At a time when all things religious are being swept away it is refreshing that nation-wide the Knights of Columbus establsihed the KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS campaign to remind us all that Christmas is a Holy Day to celebrate the birth of Jesus!

To help deliver the KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS message Knights of Columbus host an annual "Light Up for Christ" celebration in parishes and locations orderwide on the first Tuesday of December to mark the beginning of Advent and with anticipation of CHRISTMAS.  Each Council may celebrate slightly different but all happens around 7:00PM - 8:00PM with the lighting of a Nativity Scene, a Christmas Tree or other Christmas Display.

Traditionally at Saint Catherine of Sienna Parish the Knights of Columbus Council #5001 host a celebration with the "Light Up for Christ" Christmas Tree Lighting; joined by Carolers (children/adult members of SCS Parish Choirs) leading participants in songs of the season.  The festivities traditionally include a simple reception for greeting parishioners and friends.
